Freeride camp

Local Guides Freeride Days

The Tauern region, with Obertauern and the Lungau and its ski areas Grosseck/Speiereck, Fanningberg, Aineck/Katschberg and the Schönfeld, offer an El Dorado of freeride possibilities off the slopes. Short ascents, paired with long, untouched descents are waiting for you. Our region is still a freeride insider tip and studies confirm the snow reliability - perfect for your powder experience.

We, the team of the Local Guides am Tauern, have made our passion our profession and would like to share our beautiful home with you. Your safety in the terrain is always our top priority. During the three days you will get valuable information about the area, the conditions and the right skiing/snowboarding technique in deep powder snow. Whether snowboard or ski, freeride beginner or professional, we will find the right spots for you.

The absolute highlight of the Local Guides Freeride Days is a guided tour with the freeride professional Tobi Tritscher. Besides joint action in the powder, he will share important tips and experiences from his time as a freeride pro with you and will answer your questions.

What awaits you

The correct handling of the avalanche safety gear and equipment forms (avalanche transceiver, probe etc.) the basis for riding in the terrain, so all techniques will be intensively reviewed and practiced together: from coarse search to fine search to multiple burials, but also the correct handling of the probe.

And then: Powder, powder, powder ... Due to the excellent infrastructure, several longline freeride runs are possible in one day, including countless meters of altitude in deep powder. Depending on the weather and snow conditions, we will find the best spots in Obertauern or in the Lungau region - with the free ski bus, all areas can be reached in a maximum of 20 minutes. Our local guides are not only state-certified snowboard/ski guides, but also absolute experts in the area and select the best runs for you every day.
